In the vanilla game there's client convar about the fishing rod UI (basefishingrod.showui true/false) and when you hook the fish a progress bar (like the one you see when you try to uncuff) instantly shows on your screen above the hotbar and you can see how the fish drags...when it fills from green to fully red you loose the fish and that's amazing QoL change. Sadly unless you're an ownerid you can't modify this cvar.
