If you ever have to do a little work on this one in the future, a good (true/false) option would be to pause the metabolism to zero consumption when a player is at 100% comfort. This would allow players to AFK for infinite periods without having to worry about coming back to the death screen. If they can AFK like that, they'll stay on the server keeping your population up as opposed to logging off. Them logging off is a side effect of the increased metabolism rates.
